That Shit Is Gay

People need to stop using the argument that this is an issue that this affects or undermines their own marriage. By people, of course, I mean Americans. Mind your own fucking business and let gay people be miserable too. If a church chooses not to perform religious ceremonial marriage rites, that is their own business as it is a religious practice; their choice. However, states should not prevent those with the desire to marry a same-sex partner and enjoy the benefits that those of us who are married to an opposite-sex partner enjoy such as tax benefits, adoption proceedings, health benefits, and power-of-attorney, amongst much more.

Our forefathers escaped religious persecution and established America and its associated Constitution, Bill of Rights, and so on. One of the things they thought of early on was the separation of church and state for issues just like this one. Marriage is a religious practice that is recognized by the government but not to be rendered by the government.

You want to talk religion and morals as they relate to marriage? Shit just got real.

The explosion of the divorce rate in America undermines marriage as a practice. Televised celebrity weddings that display American opulence more than moral values undermine marriage as a practice. Children born to single parents undermines marriage (not being critical, just technical).

If we as Americans continue to live under a self-applied religious veil that blinds us from common sense (just google "tea party" if you want to see God's word get weird. Also, see "crusades"), then we push ourselves ever closer to being religious fanatics, which we aren't really in favor of last time I checked (see "radical Muslims," also, "crusades," again).

Why does every other modern country in the world have to figure this shit out decades before their redneck American cousins get their poop in a group? (see also civil rights movement, slavery, gay marriage, civil unions/domestic partnerships, gay adoption, universal health care, and police procedures as they relate to European countries).

Listen, why is it that there are more people who tend to be moderate in this country, yet the majority of our representatives have very little in common with us? You hippies need to get off your ass and vote.

Come on, America. We can't have it both ways. We can't be OK with Kim Kardashian getting married and divorced in 72 days and then have the balls to say that two gay dudes getting married are killing religion. We shouldn't even be OK with the Kardashians as a general rule. Did we already forget why she's famous? Do you find it easier to explain to your kids that she and several others are famous only because they filmed themselves fucking someone than to explain to them that it is possible (and OK... GASP!!!!) that two people of the same sex can love one another

Seriously? Do we not realize as a society that we enshrine people who offer us absolutely no talent whatsoever and in fact only represent the very deplorable behavior we cry out against?

If gays are destroying religions and morals in America and not all of the other disgusting shit going on here like the thousands of homeless and starving kids right in our own cities, dishonest politicians who only give a fuck about the next election/money/legacies, and those with power ensuring that those without it remain that way, then maybe it's just a problem with our eyesight.

This shit isn't hidden, it's right in front of you. You watch it. You eat and drink it. You vote for it, or you don't vote against it. You change the channel to it so you don't have to see it. You avoid it when you see it outside of your home or barricade yourself within to prevent from ever having to know about it.

Gays and their right to be married is not the problem. The problem is you.
